The future of transport is electric, and the AVERE E-mobility Conference 2023 (AEC 2023) is the event for anyone interested in being at the forefront of this revolution. Taking place in Utrecht on September 26-27, It is set to be the most significant event for the future of electromobility, bringing together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the latest developments in electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and sustainable transportation.

The conference comes as the mass uptake of electromobility is accelerating all over Europe. The European e-mobility market has grown recently, with electric vehicle sales increasing exponentially. According to the European Alternative Fuels Observatory, Europe’s total number of electric vehicles reached almost 3.4 million in 2022, with Norway and the Netherlands leading the way in EV market share.

This growth is expected to continue in the coming years, with the European Commission setting a target of at least 30 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2030. The shift towards electric vehicles is not just driven by environmental concerns but also by technological advancements, such as improvements in battery technology which have cemented electric vehicles as the most efficient form of road transport.

To support this shift, the EU is finalizing and implementing several policies to promote the adoption of electric vehicles. One key example is the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which aims to ensure that there are sufficient charging and refuelling stations for alternative fuels across Europe. These policies have created a highly supportive environment for the electric vehicle market’s growth and set the stage for AEC 2023.

The AEC 2023 is a two-day event that brings together key stakeholders from across the industry to discuss the latest developments and trends in electric transportation.

Under the motto “Joining Forces for 2035”, the year which will mark the end of sales of internal combustion engine vehicles in Europe, the conference offers a packed schedule of events, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, as well as an exhibition area showcasing the latest electric vehicles and technologies. At the AEC 2023, attendees can expect to gain insight into these technologies, network with other professionals, and participate in discussions on the future of electric transportation.

Description automatically generatedAEC 2023 is at a crossroads for industry, consumers and government to join forces to take e-mobility to the next level. The conference will rest on five pillars that will constitute the critical enablers for a smooth transition to zero-emission mobility:

1

•    Beyond the plug

•    Clean Heavy-duty vehicles

•    Resilient Energy Infrastructure

•    Future-proof supply chain

•    Skills for the future

AEC2023 will take place in Utrecht, a pioneering city for e-mobility in Europe.

It was one of the first cities to tackle emissions from transport. As of January 2022, a low-emission zone was established in the city centre. Driven by the same rationale, the city administration has decided that as of  2025, all new buses in Utrecht will be emission-free. An ambition is to create a zero-emission zone for passenger traffic in the city centre by 2030.

Also looking to support private driving, the city has over a thousand charging stations for electric vehicles, with hundreds dotted throughout the city.

In 2019, bi-directional charging entered the commercial phase, which made Utrecht decide on the city-wide roll-out of this concept. About 500 of the 1000 charging points in Utrecht are bi-directional, partly along with shared cars and low parking standards in new housing blocks. The concept is also being implemented outside Utrecht, like at the world’s largest “charging plaza” (Below image) parking area with solar panel roof) for a bank in Zeist and an additional development at ASR in Utrecht.

Whether you are a manufacturer, infrastructure provider, or policy maker, the AEC2023 offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the latest developments and trends in the industry. The conference is where attendees can connect with other professionals and share their ideas and experiences, making it an ideal forum for collaboration and innovation.

For manufacturers, it is an opportunity to showcase their latest products and technologies and to connect with potential customers and partners. The exhibition area provides a platform for manufacturers to demonstrate their latest electric vehicles and technologies, allowing attendees to see firsthand the latest innovations in the industry.

For infrastructure providers, it is an opportunity to learn about and show the latest developments in charging infrastructure and to connect with manufacturers and policymakers to discuss the future of electric transportation.

For policymakers, it is an opportunity to learn about the latest developments and trends in the industry and to connect with other stakeholders to discuss the future of electric transportation. The conference provides a platform to share their experiences and ideas and to collaborate on strategies for promoting the adoption of electric vehicles.

The AEC2023 is also an excellent space for businesses looking to expand their operations in the field. With attendees from across the industry, the conference offers a unique opportunity to showcase products and services and explore new partnerships and collaborations.

The event will also be a space to explore the latest innovations in the field, with exhibitors from the industry exposing the latest electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and renewable energy solutions. Attendees will have the opportunity to see firsthand the latest technologies and innovations driving the electrification of transport.
